It's not mine, I have no affiliation with this item (that's why I'm posting here instead of the For Sale section).
Early Frying Pan with added tone control and kill button! I'm a little amazed how much original finish remains, especially considering how rusty the horseshoes and saddle have become. On my own frypan, the magnets and saddle still retain almost all of their shiny plating (nickel or chrome, not sure). Were some of these shipped with these parts unplated?

Almost certainly a refin, with major mods, including an odd (Bakelite?) nut. The PU is possibly not original to that guitar as well, even with the scribe.
But, I'll bet it sounds great, and is a good player. Sure wish it's provenance was known. |

This is not good:
"The original Horseshoe Pickup meters @ 22.6K however the actual output level is about that of 5.K single coil. "
This coil should meter at much lower, like 2K, right? Having the output of a '5k single coil' is not going to sound like it should, these guitars had the hottest signal around when working right. Probably needs a rewind. |

Somebody spent way too much money on a guitar. Frying pans in far better, more original condition have been selling for less than this the past couple of years. |

Actually this guitar was not sold. The Buy It Now price was $2495 (I thought it was a little steep, although I paid more for mine in much nicer shape) but there were no bids.
From my observations following ebay and national guitar shows, original early A-22 models in nice shape are currently averaging $4-5000 (Yes selling at that level. Bakelites and '50s models are less). Of course, prices are always subjective, the economy isn't as healthy as it could be and some people are still having to let go of their treasures cheaply...
There are still bargains to be had, but this deal wasn't one of them
I haven't seen a long scale A-25 for sale at all. _________________ A big THANKS to all my friends, here and everywhere ! |
