My point to posting this is to show you how easy this thing is to play for steel guitar players. I'm not saying by any means this is a good demo or anything. Musically speaking much of what I'm doing here is just doodling around. I have unique tuning on this 8 string fretted guitar with 4 knee levers and 4 floor pedals. It is very much akin to my steel guitar copedent. I have not posted the copedent as of yet.

So that said here are some links to listen to this...now I want to tell all of you that other than about an hour to actually make these videos...I have only spent about another hour playing this instrument. So do you understand that basically I just sat down to it, tuned it, did a few minutes of discovery, then turned on the track and video camera. Again, this is not trying to display my talent or lack of it in any way....the FACT is this is a bonafide instrument that in my opinion has merit...let me know your thoughts.

When I wasn't getting lost in the music I was thinking about how the Pedal Guitar nails what B and B/G bender players are trying for-cool compound bends like a PSG with the sort of percussive thing that goes with fingers on the frets. If enough six-stringers (PSG guys, too)take an interest in fretting overhand, this could be BIG.Thanks,Zane! Very Happy

Yeah, it looks like one thing, but you are hearing another. Was this an idea of yours or how did it all come about? Great job!!

Thank y'all for commenting. The idea really goes back to the 80s. Gene Fields had made a double neck steel. Some of you have seen it. The top neck was an 8 string neck with a fretboard underneath it. He played it quite well. Upon seeing that, I sent him one of my 12 string guitars and he fitted a fretboard on it. I played it for a while but it really just didn't work right. So a couple of years ago, my Dad started working on this idea. So we just bought a Scheter 8 string guitar. He then went to work on this and you now see the results. What makes this work from just putting a fretboard under a steel guitar is a couple of things. One, it is a guitar to begin with. That helps with fingering, sound, etc. Secondly, is the tuning copedent. That really is the key ingredient. I'm going to stay with it because I do think it has some merit. Yes, it is a strange looking device that you have to sit and play....BUT so is the piano and drums...those seem to do pretty well. Very Happy
