Topic: Are these ZB pickups? |

Hey there ZB experts..
Can you tell me if these could possibly be original ZB pickups? They don't look like others I've seen, but my experience is VERY limited.

I don't know, but that front neck pup must be a custom built as it has 11 pole pieces. Not too many of those floating around.
Nice colors on the guitar finish. 11/10 ZB Custom? |

They almost look like early Emmons pickups, as in pre 1967, have you ever taken them out of the guitar? or measured the output with an ohm reader?

Yep, the E9 is 11 string.
They are definitely not coil-tapped. The 3-position tap switch is disconnected. There is a volume and tone pot, so it's hard to measure the resistance without taking the pickups out or un-soldering, which I have not done.
I am being told that they are original ZB Custom pickups for this guitar, but I defer to those of you with vastly more experience than I.

| Definitely NOT original pickups. Originals were triple tapped. Hence the triple selector switch being there. Original ZB pickups are part of the ZB sound. |

I agree they probably are not ZB pups, but who else built 11 string guitars/pickups? Off hand, I can't think of any.

Emmons and Rus-ler made some 11 stringers and maybe some others did too back then. Those are not ZB pick-ups. The ZB pick-ups had a single row of adjustable pole pieces down the center that the coil was wound around. On the outside, on each side of the coil there was a row of magnets.

Forgot about Rus-ler and truthfully, never saw an 11 string Emmons, in person or in an ad. Doesn't mean they didn't exist.

There are 2 of them, a Wraparound and a cut-tail. The wrap is out in the studio, the cut is behind me
