Does the $60.00 fee for the badge, cover you being able to attend the evening shows....or better yet what are the other cost involved for the show only if you buy the two day badge?

I don't see a 2012 update at Scotty's site yet, other than the dates. Normally, the HoF show is an additional donation as is the Friday late night show. They are each well worth the price. Other than those two events, I don't think there are added admission charges.
The Scotts can correct anything I got wrong.

Howard - Here is what the $60.00 badge will get you.
Thursday - Talent Search free
Hall Of Fame Fund Raising show is $10.00
Friday - All day and evening perfromances 10:00am to 11:30 pm
Late Night Concert 1:00 am - 3:00 am $5.00
Saturday - all day and night. 10:00am to 12:00 midnight
It alos allows you free admission to all the display rooms. A badge is required to enter those display rooms.

Joe,
Sorry I didn't see this sooner. I'm currently not planning to attend this year. My golfing/steel convention buddy is not feeling up to it. I'll probably take a year off unless my father in-law is up for another trip; that too is doubtful at present.

this should be included in the addmission price
No wonder the venders are not comeing like they
used to,after everyone buys a badge there is no money
left to spend at the venders booth,what an OUTGAGE!!!!! |

I used to pay like 15.00 for admission to PSGC I think a cpl used to get into convention for 25.00*both) now what around 150.00 for a man and his wife?....this is why I quit going many years ago. I'm on social security and just cant afford it I know sellers displaying also went thru the roof as well.... I bought a steel there before and many other things
a lot of items I guess they make more money with half the people it was fun back then and not a rip off.
I just saw a post about it being less than half full HELLO anyone noticing??? PRICES to high older people cant afford to pay 40 dollars each for a few hours that's more than the over priced EMPTY Movie theatre I think they are pricing them selves out of business a LOT of other steel guitar shows these days no longer the only show around like before |

| IMHO $65 is a real bargain for 3 full days of entertainment !!!! I attend the Chet Atkins festival in NASHVILLE and it is over $200 and stilla bargain. It is not cheap for those that sponsor these events. ....support theM or they will die....just my 2 cents worth , or in this case $65 worth |

I have to agree with Bill H. I went to St. Louis for 18 years in a row,
and sometimes took others with me. I did the videos in the Derby Room
for Charlie and Margit for years and never asked for a penny, because
they were family to me and my wife, plus I got to see all my friends.
My wife and I always spent our Sept. 1st anniversary there with friends.
Things changed at the convention too much 4 years ago so we quit going
3 years ago. I've been on S/S for 12 years and last time we went it was
just under $500 for the Tickets, room, parking, gas and overpriced food.
We sure miss it, but for us low income old folks, good things soon end.

| Well I am going for the first time in 5 years...I had been going every year for about 10 years and then started going to the Phoenix show instead...perhaps I will see for myself what everyone is talking about...but based on the performers who are scheduled to play, I cant see where I could go wrong. I am 66 and a retired Okie high school math teacher, not exactly rich, but still hanging in there ! I did not mean to imply that I can afford all things, its just a priority to me to attend festivals that I enjoy. Maybe I will feel differently after this trip. |

| I'm sorry that there is such a problem with the cost of the ISGC for some folks. However, it depends on YOUR priorities in life, I guess. I'm somewhat like Larry, although I'm 3 years older (69) and also a retired (for ten years) high school BIOLOGY teacher. Carl mentioned that the last time he went, he spent just under $500. This year, my air fare alone is just OVER $500, then add in hotel, food, buses, etc. I feel the cost of admission to ANY steel show that I've ever attended is the LEAST of my costs. This will be my 8th trip to St. Louis; I've been to the Dallas Jam 3 times, and to the Canadian Steel Show in Alberta 9 out of the 10 Shows there. Again, it's one's priorities that determine where & how much one spends his/her money on. I'll see some of you folks in St. Louis this year! |

I will be playing the talent show again this year but won't be able to attend the rest of the convention. If I could afford it I would as my wife and I really enjoy it but times are tuff. I've always been supportive of the convention. That's why I do the talent show. I do have several friends that come to see me and stay the whole show. I feel that the artist that perform on the talent show should be treated just like any other artist and should get an artist badge. That's just my opinion and will continue to support the ISGC. As I have said in the past Scott'y calls the shots. If you don't like it stay home. I know a lot of people who pay a lot more to got to a 2 hour concert and think nothing of it. If we don't support this convention it will cease to exist. It's your call.

I have seen several people commenting on how attendance keeps dropping at the convention yet it seems they keep raising prices,as far as someone who thinks it is a bargain they probably were not going 34 years ago I got there once on a sunday about 12:30 PM and Scotty Jr told me not to worry about paying for my wife and I. I know there are expenses to be paid but a lot of steel guitar vendors have stopped because they just cannot afford the high prices they now charge.
Like I said a lot of steel guitar shows around this is not the only one anymore and back when we also didn't have the internet to buy things from like we have now.
In 1979 if you wanted something for a steel guitar the convention was IT!. |

| I wonder what the admission charge was in 1979. It seems like it had to be at least $20 or so. At that time I was working as a machinist for less than $7.00 per hr. Now that same job pays over 3 times that much around here. It looks all relative to me. After paying $400 for a plane ticket, $300 for the room and about $100 for food, A $20 reduction in the admission price wouldn't help me much. I'm just afraid it would drive the ISGC out of buisness forever. |

Since my earlier post, I've decided to take a roadtrip to see that friend in Nebraska. I happen to be passing by St. Louis, so I'm planning to stay a while on Saturday. I'm missed the past 2 and am really looking forward to seeing freinds and hearing a lot of the top players.
