Who is this steeler that's with Webb on most of his Youtube stuff? Thought it was Bud Isaacs but doesn't look like him. There is one video where he has his foot on volume pedal outside of steel. Here's link:

Sorry, meant for this to be under steel players but hit wrong button. _________________ Henry Matthews

It's Sonny Burnett on steel. The other players are Dale Potter, fiddle; Pete Wade, electric guitar; Van Howard rhythm guitar; Lighnin' Chance, bass. _________________ LeGrande II, Nash. 112, Fender Twin Tone Master, Session 400, Harlow Dobro, R.Q.Jones Dobro |

Thanks you all. Really looks and sounds like a great player. Think most of those videos of that era were dubbed. Just wander how they did it. Sound is always good for that long ago. _________________ Henry Matthews

Is Van Howard the one that always sang harmony with Ray Price? I also think he had some songs of his own out. _________________ Henry Matthews

I googled him and Sonny also and got quite a bit of stuff on the both. Best I could find is Sonny is still around. He's a great player and wonder if he still plays any? _________________ Henry Matthews

Bud Isaacs told me a story about he and Walter Haynes after an opry show loading Sonny's gear into one of Webb's waiting cars in the alley of the opry as he was headed out on tour after the show. Sonny didn't want to go with Webb but Bud and Walter pushed him in the back seat and as the car took off, Sonny was staring at them from the back window with a sad look on his face. True? Who knows but must not have been too bad of a gig as Sonny was with Webb for quite awhile...rj |
