Another question, folks:
STRINGS for the Georgeboards Weissenborn-type guitar on its way to me....
I hear that this type of guitar is, understandably, somewhat sensitive to string tension....
I'll want to tune it up to open-E. I assume that just getting, e.g. a set of standard guitar 13's and tuning up would be too much tension....although George says it ships tuned to Open E with a "medium jazz set of .013s", which sounds like standard guitar strings....
GHS makes http://www.juststrings.com/ghs-lap-e.html
(13-17-24-32-42-56), looks like good gauges for OPEN-E (3rd,4th,5th a bit lighter), but these are "ELECTRIC" strings, not acoustic...
Are these OK gauges? Should I put together a phosphor bronze set with the same gauges? Is there another OPEN-E alternative? _________________ https://www.lostsailorspdx.com

Hey Steve
For Weissenborn, try a phospher-bronze Light Gauge set by your fav company:
12/16/24/32/42/53
If you find them too light then go up to Medium Gauge.
I've played Medium Gauge on my Weissenborns for ages but in D, G & C major tunings. |

Tim-
Thanks, that looks right....and I can bump up the high E and High B if they seem a bit too loose relative to the raised strings, I have a big stash of plain strings... _________________ https://www.lostsailorspdx.com
