Can someone tell me what size thread is used at the end of the pedal rod to the pedal linkage, I refer particularly to a Sho-Bud Professional. The rod diameter (According to my micrometer is 162thou', but I can't find a thread that matches that diameter. Everything in this country has gone Mad & Metric. (Bring back FEET & INCHES)

Thankyou both for yor replies but if I went to a tool shop here and asked for a 10-32 they would think I was telling them the time. Is 10-32 a UNF, UNC, or something else.
Other than Metric, I am only familiar with Whitworth, BSF, BA, and of course UNC, UNF, in fraction sizes. Is the 10-32 the pich and number of threads or wot .

32= pitch/threads per inch
Dave,
take your pedal rod with you and try a 10-32 nut to be sure,go to a sears or home depot or equalivant or maybe automotive supply house.You will need a handle and stainless steel tapping fluid,unless you plan to use it on a contuing basis it may be cheaper to have a machine shop to do it. Get on the phone and ask prices...

| Bob is right 10-32 would be NF (National Fine) threads. A 10-24 would be NC (National Coarse). If you go to a tool place...they will know what you're talking about! You'll need a button die and a die handle if you're threading rod, or a pair of taps (a pilot tap and a finish or "bottom tap") if your doing female threads in a rod end. And yes, get a small can of the right kind of tapping lubricant. Also, when you're tapping (cutting threads), use the lubricant constantly---and back up the tap or die every turn or so to break off ("clear") the chips. |

Hi there Dave,
You should find the required bits your'e looking for at your local Landrover dealers as I think they are used for the throttle/carb' linkage rods.
I think that the early ones were already 10-32 which equates to the N.American 3/16" and 32 T.P.I. like the guys sugest.
