Just another one of the many reasons that I
HATE paypal.
Devil

Another reason is the fact that PayPal will place a hold on transferring money from your PayPal "account" to your bank.(3 business days) I know it is PayPal that holds, as my bank has confirmed this to be the case.

Meanwhile, your crook eBay buyer decides to dispute the transaction, causing your money to "freeze"!!!

Yeah, PayPal............NOT!!

Does PayPal "hold" money three days to collect a little interest or what?

Regardless, I still hate PayPal.

I know that their logo is: The worlds most-loved way to pay and get paid.

Horsesh@t!

When I sold my MSA to Nathan, PayPal did that to me. Nathan just accepted the delay of one more week

The only thing worse than PayPal is Craigs List. Recently, I posted an amp for sale on a Sunday morning, and had three scam offers within one hour.

I have used Paypal a bunch of times with no problems, both as a buyer and seller. Sure, it takes a few business days (3-4 if I remember right) to transfer money to your bank account, but I just accept that. The last postal money order I got and deposited into my bank account, the bank froze the funds for 10 days to let it clear (I tried cashing it at the post office - has happened a few times now - where the post office didn't have the funds on hand to cash it - was told to come back later in the day - I think postal money order are crap). I have had funds wired to my bank account on a few occasions (not buy and sell activities) and they take 7 -10 working days. Personal checks a lot of time get held by the bank for up to 10 days to allow for clearing. I don't think the few days it takes PayPal to transfer funds is out of line at all.

Don't mean to hijack Ken's post , but while we're on the "scam" topic , what does the "scammer" on Craigslist trying to accomplish ? I put an ad up,and It was just exactly like Cartwright described - 3 responses in short order wanting to "purchase immediately" - with no phone number etc. included . . My guess is that they want an email address to hack on ? ? IMHO they should all be boiled in chicken fat . . . Franko

I am not sure why that happened to you, but I have accepted PayPal payments in my business for many years now and very little trouble.
In 12 years I had two people who complained and those were both resolved quickly and easy with the help of PayPal.
My only complaint is when trying to resolve an issue it is not possible to e-mail documents as attachments to their office.

About the three day hold I think they do make interest on those held funds X the great number of people waiting makes for serious $$$$$ to their accounts.
However, you can get a PayPal ATM card that makes your funds available for use right away.

They put that 20 day hold on me a couple of months ago.
Since I had done a lot of business through PayPal for so many years with almost no problem I felt there was no reason for that.
I called up and they reversed that back to the 3 day hold the same day I complained.

My bank also puts a hold on checks I deposit at least that long.
Anyway I have found PayPal to be a very good and useful service and I use them for about 20% of all my sales, Many thousands of dollars each year with them alone. They charge me a little more (About 1% more on average depending on the country the payment is coming from) for PayPal fees than my bank charges for Credit Card sales through my merchant account.

About the shipping scam;
I often get requests by e-mail for my products from obvious fake name companies.
They always ask to have their shipper pick up the products for "Faster and cheaper" service.
They also want to pay with a US credit card.... I'd guess a stolen number.
They also ask for dozens of each item they claim to want. Most times the items requested are in the same order as shown on my web site.
None of my customers ever order this way so I know it is a fraud.

The shipping charge is always hundreds of dollars that they want to bill to the same card.

I expect they never even try to pick up the products but just scam the bank for the payments until they are found out.
Can not be sure as I never fell for the deal.
