Donald "Duck" Dunn, world renowned bass player, has died. He played for Eric Clapton and Booker T and the MG's. He played himself in the movie, Blues Brothers. He was 70.
May he rest in peace. |

I am sorry to hear of his passing. At least he died in his sleep.
The "Duck" was a fantastic bass player. I took up the bass for a few years and tried to copy some of his lines.
He will be missed and sadly, not replaced. _________________ "Shoot low boys, the're ridin' Shetlands" |

Another great one gone. Who's going to take these guys places? Sadly no replacements, just successors. Strange, I was just watching the Blues Brothers movie last night and was reminded again about how great a player he really was. Credited, I think, for saying about the bass, "Ain't no money above the 7th fret".

Definitely - another one of the greats gone. No more soulful and tasteful bass player ever lived. RIP, Duck. |

I hate to hear of "Duck's" passing. I'm a big fan of his playing and all the stuff he's cut and been part of. Like said above... there's just no replacing players like Donald "Duck" Dunn. May he rest in peace with The Lord.
Sincerely,
Chris "Tiny" Olson |
