Topic: Volume pedal taper adjustment?? |

| Hey guys, I need a little help. I have a Carter pedal with a Goodrich pot. I would like the pot to come on sooner….as it is nothing happens for about a third of the travel. Is there a way to make the pot open up earlier? Thanks in advance. |

Is the Carter pedal a string type? You can unstring it, and restring it more "on".

Step 1, take pictures of the string around the shaft. preferably from a couple of angles.
1a) close pedal (as in full off)
2) Loosen, but do not remove, the screw at one end of the string.
3) Assuming the string wraps around a screw on the pot shaft, unwind enough string to free the screw, now don't let go of the string.
4) give the string just a bit of slack and, with the other hand, rotate the shaft of the pot a titch (scientific term) clockwise (looking down the shaft).
5) consulting your pictures and taking all the slack out, rewrap the string around the shaft and screw.
6) put the string back under the screw and tighten it.
Don't let it get you down if you have to repeat 5&6 a few times: if there's slack in the string, it all goes wrong and the pedal won't work.

Hey Lane, thanks for the help but it looks as though the string just rides on the pot…so i have no idea how to get this to work

Even easier.
1: Rock pedal to "Off."
2: unhook spring, relieving tension and allowing some slack
3: rotate pot a titch clockwise (looking down the shaft)
4: hook spring
5: test.

| I'm thinking you might have the amp volume too low. Turning up the amp will make the pedal "come alive" earlier, and usually give you a more consistent tone, too! |

Hey Donny, I actually have my amp pretty close to wide open most of the time and want to use the VP for just that reason, its just that my pedal currently is set up just the opposite…lol |
