Here's a video of a group of friends of mine, playing one of my favorite songs "Someday Soon" by Ian Tyson.

Thank´s much, my very good friend Walter, for posting this.

It is one of my absolute favorite songs and I´m real proud of it, that I had the honour to listen to this great band live. These are great musicians and very nice guys in person.

Looking forward to see you soon again and wish you all the best.

Warmest regards ... Thomas Cool

Great Band, really enjoyed it ! Question: Do European Bands normally sing American songs in English or in their own language ? Does their audiences understand the English words or are they just enjoying the sounds ?

Hi Billy,

From my observation I would say that the majority of European Country Bands plays mostly material in English although there are some bands who only sing in their local language (especially German). Lots of people understand some English but it is sometimes a problem to play songs where the story is more important (like Tom T. Hall songs for example) than the melody. Lots of people don't understand enough to get the story.

Germany has an active scene of German bands playing mostly German language songs, especially Trucker songs.

Best Regards, Walter

That's a great group there Walter. Some mighty fine country music, your steel also sounds great.
I did notice that they talk with an accent but don't sing with one. Really some great country.

Great playing Walter, and a good version of the song! As an Ian and Sylvia fan, Someday Soon is a favorite of mine.
It is true about the German bands who sing in German. However, one must mention that there are also a lot of die-hard fans of American music around here who don't take those bands quite seriously. I must admit that to my ear country music with German lyrics has something ridiculous to it. But then, each to his own.
