A few years ago, I had a Fostex recorder that allowed you to enter the beats per minute of the song and I believe you could change the speed of the song. Has anyone found this feature (if it exists) in the Korg D3200?
Along the same lines, does anyone know of a program that you can play a song off a CD and it will tell you the beats per minute? I've tried using the metronome in my Petersen VSAM, using both the tap function and just turning the value knob. I will get the thing zeroed in on the speed of the song, but as the song progresses, the speed varies and the metronome goes out of sync. The reason I ask is, I recorded a rhythm track to a song I am recording, and if I use the acoustic guitar first, my song ends up too fast (I am not a guitar player at all, but can play some rhythm). I have better luck when I start with a piano track, but would still like to be able to lay down a click track or at least count the song off correctly (something I can't do well if I have to start playing right after the count in). |

We use the Korg 3200 and although I don't know it inside and out, I don't believe you can adjust for timing with it.
We always lay down drums and bass first using a simple metronome recorded on it's own track and monitored in our phones during our first take, and then played back by all those who follow us recording. A simple 1/8 male to 1/4 male cord is all it takes with this simple unit, it's the one I keep in my stick bag http://www.guitarcenter.com/Boss-DB-30-Dr--Beat-Metronome-103304309-i1125665.gc
But wait! You could also use the drum machine track just for getting started, then pot it down when you get to where you no longer need the timing assistance after recording your first tracks.
Do you have to wear "readers" to operate your Korg 3200? I do! |

| Yup. Need binoculars. I have thought of just getting close with the original recording and using the metronome in my VSAM to lay down a click track. |

| Hello, I just got a 3200, but had a Roland VS1680 before this. Do either of you know if I can import a song from the 1680 to the 3200?? I can't seem to find a place that says "Song Import" And I can't say I love the 3200 display compared to the 1680.. |

| Yup, I have 2 D3200's, & I put the "2seemy" in both of them .. Then just hook up any monitor or computer to it & watch everything on the big screen.. Could never live without it now... a big bang fot the buck.. |

| richard i sent you a pm. yes you can set the bpm with the session drums on the korg d3200. you can also have it sync start. you can record them, or just listen while you play. you can erase silent areas, maximize the gain (normalize) all sorts of stuff. i like simple patterns. session 1, variation 4. just snare and tom or snare and cymbal or high hat. i have been recording this week and have read the devil out of the manual. lol i did witchita lineman, a steel, two guitars, vocal, and bass. |
