Tried it till I'm blue in the fingers. My largest obstacle is mastering the technique for striking both strings at once. Any helpful tips?
Thanks!
Jake

I hit the notes with my thumb and block the octave/strike the chime with the karate chop part of the hand

Many players - including myself occasionally - use the edge of the hand to touch the mid-point of multiple strings simultaneously, as Lane mentions above; once in a while I get lucky with the second knuckle of the tucked pinky also.

Striking harmonic chimes dependably is challenging enough when you are only after one note, if nothing else attempting to hit multiple strings cleanly on a consistent basis provides a clear path to humility for all who try it. Practice, man, practice Cool

Here is another Harmonic technique where you hit a lower note Harmonic and a higher note non-Harmonic in harmony with each other. (out of an old Alvino Rey instruction book)

On songs like JERRY BYRD's "Wabash Blues"......

I use the thumb and middle finger to pluck the strings while using the right palm or heel of the hand, to make the harmonics on both strings.

In C6th, it allows one to play any combination of strings and/or slants.....both forward & reverse.

For those I use my pink folded back. But it only works if the strings are not far apart.

I've tried every possible way of chiming and still the heel of my hand works 10 to 1 over any other way. Chiming this way, the notes aren't as clear but just can't hit it the other ways. Two strings are easier to do by just raking with thumb pick.
