Set'm Up Joe

I have been trying to work up the song "Set'm Up Joe" in the key of D. My problem is this; At the end of the intro, there is a pause. And the timing of that pause is such that the singer comes in on second cord of I believe the sixth measure. Well that puts the beginning of the first verse on the base's alternate note rather than the primary note. In other words the singer comes in on the down beat rather than the up beat. My question is this, is there some way that I can make the second cord of any measure function as the start or primary cord and then later on in the song change the timing back as needed? Thanks in advance.

I can't access biab currently, but memory
tells me you right-click the measure that
needs attention, then choose 'settings for
this measure' (or bar) then look for 'number
of beats this measure, and adjust accordingly . . .

Thanks Russ for your quick response.Just as soon as I can I'm going to try out your suggestion. I forgot to say that I have the 2010 version. I also ran into a similar timing issue when I was trying to put together Chattahoochee by Alan Jackson. Again many thanks.

Michael, not at my computer now but in a case like that, I use three dots behind last chord and that will sustain that chord for a bit and where ever music starts back, just enter your chord. Works for me.
