This has been a wonderful help to me, and I continue to work with the chart daily. Again, many heartfelt thanks for your efforts and generosity.
I seem to recall mention of a C6 chart. Is there anything available? I keep messing with different C6 tunings, but am very new to this setup. Any guidance is most appreciated.

Thanks Patricia! I had the large PDF printed up at a local print shop in wall size. Kept one and gave one to my teacher. He's rated to teach "any instrument" so he wanted to learn steel too for a while. I left my steel in his studio so he could get the feel of it, figuring it would help me. He said I don't know how you just sit in front of that thing and make up a song. (But he says that when I play the fiddle.) 
I still study fiddle with him and I intend to go back to the steel teacher I got to learn a bit from. (I'm still a steel beginner.) I mentioned just last week to him (fiddle teacher) the line from the forward in Winnie Winston's book roughly: Many an experienced musician upon trying to learn the pedal steel guitar has been driven to tears in frustration. Because it wasn't long before he said to get that thing out of here (ca. 2010).
The poster has been most helpful! Hopefully this somewhat long story brings a chuckle. |

I believe some of this is buried in the 15 pages of comments, but as there is renewed interest I thought I would re-post this explanation:
The Chord Patterns work like this:
Major Chord - C -
Open Fret + 3 = AF
What this means -- for example,
When you are playing in the Open position (no pedals, no levers) the Major C Chord is on Fret 8 using strings 4,5,6
If you move up 3 Frets to the 11th Fret and depress the A Pedal and engage the F Lever and play strings 4,5,6 you also play the Major C Chord
One more example
Major Chord - E -
Open Fret + 7 = AB
AB Fret + 8 = AF
What this means - for example,
When you are playing in the Open position (no pedals, no levers) the Major E Chord is no bar/open bar on strings 4,5,6
Move up 7 frets - to Fret 7 - depress the A Pedal and the B Pedal, and play strings 4,5,6 you also have the Major E Chord
Now from there, if you move up 8 frets - to Fret 15 - depress the A Pedal and engage the F Lever, and play strings 4,5,6 again you also have the Major E Chord
This works with all major string groupings listed.
Double check the patterns against the chord table.
Once you study the chart more closely, you may notice that under the Major Chord Patterns section the second tip: AF + 2 = E Lever actually takes you from the Major Chord to it's Relative Minor. Still a Major Chord Pattern but not Major Chord to Same Major Chord. Following that then, the third tip: E Lever + 2 = AB takes you from that same Relative Minor back to the Major Chord.
For example:
1AF (D Major) + 2 frets & E Lever = 3E (B Minor)
3E (B Minor) + 2 frets & AB Pedals = 5AB (D Major)
I hope this can clear up any confusion.
