Has anyone out there ever tried making a nut for Fender Deluxe/Stringmaster with wider (3/8") string spacing? The strings are already spaced at 3/8" at the bridge saddle. A wider nut might look just a little goofy, but would make low-register slants a little cleaner.

Any comments?

Hi Mike,

Interesting about the Stringmaster catalogs. Especially since there are no grooves in the bridge saddle, it seems that the string spacing would be determined by the string anchor hole spacing. But this wouldn't effect string spacing at the nut end, where it matters for those low-register slants.

Herb Steiner are you out there? Any comments?
