A recent thread about a small amp to use on vacation made me decide to record some video of my travel / practice rig. It's a Danelectro Hodad small 9 volt battery powered amp. I also use a "Music Bullet" powered speaker hooked to my cell phone for my backing tracks (mp3 files). I've got $100 in the Melobar (Ebay), $26.99 in the Danelectro, and $14.99 in the Music Bullet. Super small, and sounds OK for hotel room practicing.
VIDEOS:
Deep Water - Thanks to Doug Beaumier for posting the video that got me interested in this song. Tried to cop his licks, but I'm just not capable yet. Got lost a couple times. Also kind of embarrassed my little "harmonic slide" to end the song didn't come out like I planned. Also thanks to David Hartley and Mark Dunn for the backing track.
Sleepwalk - One of my all time faves to noodle around with.
Harbor Lights - Another of my faves. Weather's getting kinda bad here, you can hear thunder in the background.

Nice stuff, Steve.
May I ask how long you have been playing? |

That was really great, think that pretty well answers the question about a small pack away amp as well. Plus I take it from other comments that you are a fairly new player so I take encouragement from that as I have been having a learning curve issue and the curve seemed to be heading down hill. Will use your videos as great examples to "hanging in there".

Thanks for the encouragement, Doug. I've always been the kind of guy who likes to "figure things out" on my own, but I'm not progressing as well as I'd like. I went ahead tonight and ordered both of your C6 books. Your youtube videos really knock me out, and EVERYONE brags on your books, so I took the plunge. I look forward to receiving them.
Bill, I started in October 2010, so I've been at it about a year and 7 months. I don't practice as much as I should -- up until last week, I've been working a 6 day a week job. I hope to start a new job this week with more time off.
Tom, thanks for the kind words. I hope you're enjoying learning the steel guitar as much as I am. _________________ Some songs I've written |

Steve;
That's great! I like your set up, and your playing.
Thanks for posting this. I can see that the motel room practice can sure help me out.
I'm going to need lots of vacations, though, before I can sound as good as you do!
