Here's a link to the movie, "Road To Nashville" from 1966. The movie is divided into 6 parts.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N241YJIZTP8

Starring: Marty Robbins

With:

Connie Smith, Doodles Weaver, Richard Arlen, Ralph Emery. Webb Pierce, Waylon Jennings, Don Winters, Bobby Sykes, Kitty Wells, Johhny Wright, Ruby Wright, Bill Phillips, Faron Young, Lefty Frizzell, Margie Singleton, Bill Anderson, Dottie West, Hank Snow, The Osborne Brothers, Porter Wagoner, Norma Jean, The Carter Familty & Johnny Cash.

I'm not sure who is playing steel guitar for Marty or Bill Anderson.?? A very young Jimmy Crawford is playing steel for Kitty Wells.

Thanks Roger for alerting us to this interesting piece of history. Nice to see all these folks young and in their prime, but man what a bad movie!

Someone told me that it was Bob Lucier in the Bill Anderson segment. I am still trying to decide if I have the strength to watch this stinker (which I saw decades ago on tv) for long enough to see if I agree.

Bill Johnson was Marty's steel player at the time. I never could understand why all those stars (especially Marty) would participate in movies with such stupid story lines. It really dragged down the image of country music.

It probably dragged up the image of their bank balances...

Well the good thing about having it online is that you can just zoom ahead to the next song, without having to suffer through any of the so-called plot.

I always though that it is Sonny Garrish playing with Bill Anderson.

Kind Regards, Walter

Could well be Walter - I just have some dim memory of someone telling me that Bob played with Anderson for awhile and was in that movie. A dim memory of unattributed hearsay is about as unreliable as evidence can get!
