Thanks to Tony Prior for your answer to my question of Zoom R 8 vs R 16. I went ahead and got the Zoom R 8. I think the drum track feature will be a big plus for my situation. I have also registered with the Zoom Forum for product support as well as reading Tony's posts here in the Recording Section of the Forum.
Regarding my Zoom R 8. The product came with a prepackaged software package, Cubase 5 LE. I am running into some pretty serious difficulties getting the Steinberg Cubase 5 LE software package to work the way it is supposed to. Let's just say I want to forget about Cubase altogether, What else can I buy or download on my computer that will run the Zoom on my PC? Cubase would have been my first audio mixing software package, but I have got to try something else. Anybody but Cubase.

Try Reaper, you can download a trial version. You can also download trial versions of others such as Sonar X1 and Pro Tools 10.
I don't know what works with the hardware you have, but these are some popular Recording Programs.
REAPER
PRO TOOLS 10
SONAR X1 |

glad to offer any useful information, you are welcome. I would also agree that Reaper is a real nice compatible package to run with the R8..I believe the fee after the trial is $50..well worth it...
Load your wav files from the R8 directly into the Reaper session and the world is at your command !
have fun, good luck
