Bud Eastman, the founder of Guitar Player magazine was a steel player. I was thumbing through the June '12 issue and there was picture of two steel players. One was Ernie Ball, the other was Eastman. In the picture he's playing an MSA, he had good taste in guitars too. _________________ Darvin Willhoite
MSA Millennium, Legend, and Studio Pro, Reese's restored Universal Direction guitar, a restored MSA Classic SS, several amps, new and old, and a Kemper Powerhead that I am really liking. Also a Zum D10, a Mullen RP, and a restored Rose S10, named the "Blue Bird". Also, I have acquired and restored the plexiglass D10 MSA Classic that was built as a demo in the early '70s. I also have a '74 lacquer P/P, with wood necks, and a showroom condition Sho-Bud Super Pro. |

That would explain, of course, the many steel-related articles we see in that publication. |

I didn't read "Guitar Player" for about 20 years. I was offered a free subscription a few months ago so I'm getting it again. It usually takes me about 10 minutes to read everything I'm interested in, then it goes in the round file.
I still have some old issues that did have steel guitar articles and a steel guitar column. I don't think Eastman has been associated with the magazine for a while. _________________ Darvin Willhoite
