I am A/B'ing speakers with my Fender Bassman head. Is it OK to just turn off Standby switch, then change speaker cabinets? Or should I turn the amp all the way off?
I've read that tube amps should not be turned on and off frequently. |

Turning off the standby switch disconnects the transformer, but with a tube amp I would turn the power off before disconnecting speaker leads, just insurance... |

Most Standby switches turn off the voltage that goes to the plates and leaves the heaters turned on. Since there is no voltage at transformer, there is no output. It is fine to switch speakers in Standby. _________________ Michael Brebes
