I'm doing a short set with some friends at an outdoor festival. I'm looking for six interesting 50s/60s/70s country tunes. The only constraints are female vocals and some easy to intermediate steel guitar parts.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks!

One way to find the most popular country songs is to try Googling "best 100 country songs" and you will get several lists.

Just pick out the six songs that you think will go over best.

Some examples of very popular songs that always go over well for our band:
"I Can't Help It if I'm Still in Love With You"
"Tennessee Waltz"
"Crazy Arms"

Lots to choose from.

The Ronstadt version with Dan Dugmore's steel solo,of course.
Tammy's D-I-V-O-R-C-E.More good steel.
Loretta's "You Ain't Woman Enough".IIRC not a lot of steel, but everybody loves Loretta.
Not totally country, but Judy Collins' version of "Someday Soon".Sublime BE intro and solo.

EDIT: Just one more....If your singer has really good range and there's a first-rate harmony singer around,Dolly's "Jolene" would get things done.
