I'll be playing with A.J. Ghent - son of the great sacred steeler Aubrey Ghent - this Saturday at Darwins, 9:30-1:30pm.

Definitely worth checking out if you're a fan of the Sacred Steel style, and live in the Atlanta area...AJ is one of the best! Here are a couple of videos of him...

Oh yeah, I'll be playing guitar and lap steel in his band. We'll also have the inimitable Col. Bruce Hampton sitting in throughout the evening.
Hope to see you there!

Wow.....what a show that'll be. Any idea what tuning AJ tends to play in the most? Being a Sacred Steeler I'm guessing E something?

I think he uses some variation of D6.

This is a cool looking Gold Tone he's playing here. I've never seen one with 3 pickups.

I really like this cat A.J. a lot. And I really like you, too, Steve. This should be a monstrous event.

AJ tore it up - a great blend of chops, feel, and "controlled recklessness". His rhythmic playing is among the best I've heard from any musician.
A very humbling evening!

A lot of the show was videotaped Jay, just a matter of tracking the dude down. Hopefully some of it will show up on youtube.
