Catch the ballads by Marty Robbins from his TV program posted on youtube. All of them feature Mr. Johnson. What an accomplished artist that man was.

My favorite was his cut, with Marty, on "The Shoe Goes On The Other Foot Tonight".
It took me years to find out who recorded it with Marty. Russ Hicks and I were talking about it in Dallas one year and he's the one who finally answered my question. It's a great track.

My favorite, too. I recognize that song on the first two notes. And it sounds great throughout. Bill used the fuzztone to sound like a race car when Marty recorded "Twentieth Century Drifter."

After all my years in the music bidness i never met Bill until I quit the road and went to work at a Kinko's as a computer guy and Bill came in a couple times to get some things printed. I may be wrong, but I've always had the idea that his wife was a co-writer on "A Way To Survive".

I met Bill back in '85. I was traveling
with a gospel group and we were recording
in Bristol, TN at Joe Deatons studio.
Bill played the steel and DJ Fontana played
drums. Those guys were fast, the whole session
took 3hrs.
