I've come across 2 old pedal steels. The ZB was built for a Shreveport steel player in the early 70's. His name was Tommy Pile, says it on the guitar. It's 11 strings on the E-9 and 10 on the C-6th, 7 pedals and 3 knee levers. Both guitars have been handled by people who knew nothing and would require setting up (adj. of all pedals, pedal stops, etc.) Neither have been playen in a couple of decades!
The second guitar is a double 10 Sho-Bud, late 60's, I think! 5 pedals and 3 knee levers. Both guitars are in good shape as far as finish goes. Both need set-up and TLC.
I was wondering what a fair "as is" price would be?
I've got photo's but I can't seem to get them from my email to this site!!?? |

From the information that you've provided, it would be impossible to make an intelligent estimate as to their value. Photos, good ones-top and bottom- would make a difference. |

Pictures would be helpful, and most D-10's have 8 pedals - the 'Bud having only 5 is a factor in the price - parts aren't cheap, either As far as getting the pictures uploaded - that's another kettle of fish! _________________ --carl

The 'Bud sounds like a Crossover, which has an independent impact on its price. |

Ok Johnny forwarded me the emailed pics he has on these two. Pics are small and there are more ZB nuts out there than I. But I do know the Sho~bud is a mid-to-early Permanent.

The ZB is an 11/10...having a low E on the E9 neck.
Not all that uncommon on ZB's...and very cool. |

Joe, you have enough ZBs. Leave one for someone else.

I agree, Joe. I dunno what I was thinking. I must have eaten a bad oyster and become delirious...Then again, I almost always type in some sort of delirium. You're right, a man can never have too many ZBs. Hope you are still enjoying the blue/blonde ZB. As I get older, I'm not sure I could even lift it anymore. I tried to pick up a Fender Twin Reverb, the other day, and almost left my right arm still gripped to the handle as I felt my shoulder becoming unglued.
Anyway, folks, with a little spit and polish John's beautiful ZB could place one of the best sounding pedal steels on the planet in your hands.
