Does anyone use digital effects on a lap steel that emulate the sound of a Dobro/resonator? I've added an ultra-compact lap steel (a converted Traveler Guitar) in GBDGBD tuning , mostly to keep the bulk of my gear down for open mics and such with my trio. On some songs the electric steel sound is great, but I'd like to simulate the sound of my acoustic square-neck reso on more traditional tunes. I have a Zoom G3 multi-effects pedal. I've tried various combinations of reverb/delay/gate, etc. but haven't really found a combination that is very convincing. I've very new to digital effects and feel a bit overwhelmed by the choices. Has anyone found something that works, ether on a Zoom, or other pedals?

Just make your wife very unhappy by cutting off the end of her broom ! I have many broom-handle 'bars' of different wood quality. The harder the wood, the more authentic the 'sound' (and no messin`with computers, etc). You might end up dealing with a divorce, but what the heck ! |

Thanks Chas., great advice. I found some useful info in Electronics on settings for a Digitech multi-pedal, these may be helpful in setting up my Zoom G3.
George- I handle the broom as much as my wife does, so I doubt she'd be too mad about it. Now, if my wife was the kind that used a broom for transportation, THAT would be a different story.... |

The most authentic sound is via a Goodrich Match-Bro played with the plastic bar that comes with the unit.
Also you need to turn off all other effects. |
