More than fifty years ago my father bought me
an Electromuse six string lap steel. I still
have it. Does anyone out there know anything
about this guitar? Hello Bob. Thanks for
the Forum. I sent a check to you today as
an expression of my appreciation.

Bill,

These steels were made in the late 40's. I had one bought brand new. It was a barebones lap steel. Had a plexiglass fret board. A very small volume and tone knob.

And as I recall, the cord came right out of the body. NO jack.

Sold mine to get a National New Yorker in Chicago in 1947.

Take care,

carl

Carl:

Thanks, you have identified the guitar. Do
you have any idea who built it or where?

I realy don't. It was my first electric steel guitar. I recall the sound as not being too good.

God bless,

Carl.. My mother and father bought me one in 1946 for Christmas. My second guitar was also a New Yorker. As I recall the companion amplifier was a Carolatron 5 tube with a treble clef in the grill. You are right.. it didn't have the best sound but I did use it in a talent contest. They purchased it from Simpsons of Canada now known as Sears.
