I have some equipment to sell from an estate, and have never bought or sold on the forum. What method of selling is the most used to conduct transactions.

Appreciate any information and advice.

Thanks.

Basically, just make a post for each item and include a description (including any defects or problems - be honest), price, shipping details, and of course pictures. And list a descriptive title for the subject. Don't just say something vague like "steel guitar" or "Lots of stuff". It's best to list each item in it's own post instead of grouping them all into one post. Try to avoid selling everything as a package deal as many may be looking for individual items you are selling but aren't interested in the rest. It's really hard to sell "packaged deals".

Thanks, Richard for the comments. My main concern is how to handle the receipt of funds and when to ship item. What manner of payment is the most efficent.

Ray - the most commom ways are:
1.Paypal - which is good if you are set up fot it
and probably is the safest

2. Cash - Best but Not handy if there is a distance involved

3. Money order or cashiers check - Wait until you have the money before shipping...Sometimes these can be fake also!!

There are other ways, but these are the most common..
Also I like to chat on a phone with whoever is interested..seems to give you a better feeling on who you are dealing with

If you have a list made up, I would like to see it if you could email it to me

Good Luck.....Ron

As far as I know, no one has ever bought an item on this Forum with a fake money order or cashiers check. I'm actually quite comfortable with personal checks from Forum members.

Most of the disputes that we've seen here have to do with the condition of the item. The more you disclose in your ad, the more likely the buyer will be happy with the purchase.

Ray, most of what I've sold over the years on the forum has been a paypal transaction. You will need to establish a paypal account if you don't have one.

I've taken some money orders and even one or two personal checks. Just make sure the check clears before shipping the merchandise.

Never had any trouble here or on other sites with Postal Money Orders, personal checks of people I'm familiar with from The Forum, and bank checks. I sometimes use Paypal but do not like to use it if the item I'm selling any item that is costly as about 3% goes to Paypal.. stevet

Ray the fact that you asked how to list items shows your probably a pretty honest person.
I have bought 3 steels on here sold a cpl, sold at least 3 amps, a tape recorder and not had to many problems the last steel I bought was better than expected. List what you have take pictures items without pictures do not sell very well, remember to pay Our Leader B0b:)...It keeps this Forum ALIVE..Smile.
Most Guys on here are pretty honest sorts. Most will go out of their way to be honest with you. Sorry to hear about your friend..
