Due to change of colour choice, Amber was shelved and
"Blackbird" was born. Black Walnut and Birdseye Maple.
It will get clear lacquer - no stain, on these naturally beautiful woods.
The pic is before finishing.

You'll have to put on a clear lexan neck and a clear pad so you don't hide that gorgeous bird's eye maple!
Nice work Bent. |

Jack thanks for looking. The reason is that I am just a small time beginner and haven't got into D10's yet. It will come down the road. Right now I am busy filling this order and one more for SD10. After those, who knows? _________________ BenRom Pedal Steel Guitars

Chris, thanks for noticing. I believe I picked that up off of an old Sho-Bud, no? To me, it looked more appealing than running the round-over from end to end. _________________ BenRom Pedal Steel Guitars

Hey Bruce , Thanks so much for the kind words. It means a lot to have guys like you look and approve. We had a great time the other day when you and Ken Coulter paid me a visit. Next weekend/week, assembly and setup will be done. Ed Ringwald (Peewee Charles) is trying to arrange his schedule to come down for a day and watch the assembly. Would be just great if you would be able to make it as well! _________________ BenRom Pedal Steel Guitars

Mighty fine woodworking there Bent. Beautiful!
This a bit off topic, but I don't understand the demand for "loafers." I can understand that a double cabinet is more substantial and more solid. But why not just extend the top before stepping it down? Rather than sticky vinyl the arm would then rest on the nice bird's eye maple |

Joseph, Thanks for your nice remarks.
First off, the arm pads on my guitars are a little more than sticky vinyl. I have an upholsterer make them and he uses the same material as what is being used in quality car seats.
As for the loafer - can't answer your question. I guess maybe people have just stuck with that look of a single neck on the double frame. It sure is a popular model. You are right about the stability thing. Long as they order it, I gotta build it
I have had a few inquiries for the D10 so I'll see how it goes down the road. _________________ BenRom Pedal Steel Guitars

Starting to look really good, Bent – as expected!
As for "loafers", I just replaced the vinyl covering on my Zumsteel with really soft and supple high quality calf leather – in 30 easy minutes. What a difference! It feels so much nicer, and looks a lot better too. I got a 14 square ft piece direct from a tanner for 90 bucks, but the leftover bits were big enough to cover my steel chair and two other chair seats. So covering the pad really only cost me around 20 bucks! |
