I'm thinking about replacing the stock 15" "special design" speaker in my Fender 75 combo and I'm looking at Sica neo's. The amp is rated 75 watts powered by 2 6L6GC's, am I right to assume the 250w Sica is a better choice than the 350w? Is there a downside to using a higher rated speaker? Or should I be going for a lower rated speaker such as the Jenson 150w neo?
Also is there any problem front mounting these speakers? Thanks! |

Download the spec sheet for mounting info and frequency response charts. The two speakers are slightly different frequency wise. I like the 350W for my steel amps _________________ Milkmansound.com |

Thanks Tim, I suppose my main question was what is the optimum speaker rating for my amp? Does a 350w speaker have to be driven by a higher powered amp to deliver it's best tone? I see your Milkman amps are 85w so I'm guessing you don't see that as an issue - beautiful looking and sounding amps by the way . I think the sound samples on your and Ken Fox's websites have convinced me to go for the 350w.
What do you recommend for 6LGGC's BTW? |

Try to get NOS American tubes. nothing else compares they are 4 times as expensive but they last 15 times as long
If you must get new production, get the Ruby 6L6GCMSTR or TAD 6L6 long bottle. They are the highest quality built today but they are still not nearly as good as old American tubes.
Avoid JJ or Tung Sol output tubes - not only do they sound terrible, but the usable lifetime of them is terribly short. I went through many different new production tubes before I found what worked best in a combo amp - I have been very happy with the Ruby tubes. _________________ Milkmansound.com |

Thanks for sharing your findings Tim, I'm using the TAD tubes, I'll stick with those for now. The Sica 350w arrived today, looking forward to trying it out. |
