Well, I just heard the sad news about Jody Burl; it is a sad day for steel players.
I have known Jody about 15 years and like everyone else, he was a gentleman and a friend of all; he will be sadly missed.
What a turnout for the concert there will be playing for the Lord; the ultimate Steel Guitar Convention.
Rest in Peace, Jody "Burl" Sanders. |

Jody will truely be missed. He was a close friend for quite some time. I am happy that he is now not hurting anymore but sad that the evil cancer had to take him. |

I first met Jody in 1985 at the first TSGA Jamboree. Every year after that, he would always smile and visit for a bit. I recall buying a "cassette tape" he had put out some time back then, and remember really enjoying his version of "I Can See Clearly Now". I will need to try to find that tape, which is probably packed away somewhere.
I think a few on here summed it up real well. A true Texas Gentleman. I missed seeing him this year, and will at future TSGA shows. Rest in Peace Jody.

We're losing so many friends I think I know as many that are gone as I do left here. Jody was such a gentleman and friend. He and his contribution will be missed greatly. Thank the Lord for the good contributions Jody left behind for us to remember him by. |

This news, while not unexpected, saddens me greatly. Jody was one of the first people at my first TSGA jamboree to go out of his way to make someone with New York, NY on his badge feel welcome. From then on, each time we attended, we were greeted like old friends. TSGA won't be the same. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to his family and his many friends. |

Jody sold me my first steel guitar bar (Dunlop) when he worked at a music store in Conroe, Tx. The store didn't have it in stock, so when it came in, he personally delivered it to me at one of the early Southeast TX Steel Club meets...held at an old dancehall just outside of Tomball, Tx.
See you on the other side my friend. |
