Obviously I'll try GFI, but maybe other shops around the country are cheaper.
I prefer the GFI bell cranks for my Emmons LeGrandes. I think the design is better than the Emmons design which uses tiny circlips which can fall off in transit. I now carry spare circlips and tool. They are a hassle.

| Lynn...You might try Billy Cooper's shop, he added a change to my Legrande and used a GFI bellcrank. |

Given that they are the proper size to begin with,
if they fall off in transit they are likely either improperly
installed and/or are not flat (as new) when installed.
There must be tens of thousands of them in successful
service on push-pulls the world over.

Good point, Russ- if they are installed correctly circlips will stay put and they are certainly in wide use on every Emmons guitar.
I just find circlips to be persnickety. I am a machinist, and I keep a circlip tool in my pakaseat, and I know how they work. Still, I find that it is very easy to stretch them too far when installing and then they don't spring back like they should. They can also slip off the tool and go flying.
Also, depending on which hole in the bellcrank I need to use, and neighboring hardware, it can be very difficult to get the tool in there.
I like the design of the GFI bellcranks and they work great on an Emmons.

I have had a D-10 LeGrande II I bought new in 2001, and never had one of those clip to fall off.
I am playing every Friday & Saturday nights

I have the old 4 hole bell cranks- I think you have the 14 hole bell cranks with the teeny e-clip on the pull rod itself. In any event, I agree, they don't fall off if installed right. But if I'm buying new bell cranks, I'd rather get ones with a design that I like better.
