It is with great sadness I pass on this news. A dear friend and passionate pedal steel guitarist and Forum member from Nashua NH has passed away totally unexpected. Jim lived and breathed the pedal steel guitar as I know a lot of you do. I wonder if some could take the time to send condolences to his wife Jill and Jim's family. I think she will be amazed at the kindness of the steel forum members and I know she will take comfort from this. I thank you in advance for your words.

We chatted via computer quite often . Sho-Buds , and living in NY State were how we got acquainted . It broke my heart last night finding out the news , no sooner had I turned on my computer , and that was the first thing that I read from Jill .
Sympathy and Prayers sent to all friends and family .
RIP Jim ..... you're missed already ! _________________ EQUIPMENT:

This is a message that Jon Bresler (Jon is related to James and was the person that informed me of his passing last night on Facebook) sent me to add to all my pedal steel sites on Facebook.
(Sho-Bud, Buddy Emmons, Pedal Steel Guitar, The bible by Winnie Winston and Bill Keith, The Time Jumpers) and I'm including it here on this site.
Ronald, Hi. My sister asked me to inquire if you could put this out to your pedal steel group...to see if someone who knew James would like to play some pedal steel at his funeral...the family would LOVE it, he would love it...any questions please call 603-724-5715...Next Thursday Nashua NH 3pm Good Shepherd Episcopal.
This is probably the best site to post this message.
Thanks RC |

Sorry about the mistakes in my original posting. It was early this morning before I went to work and I guess I hurried it. Corrections posted. I am saddened to hear this! Jim was a member of the Rhode Island Steel Guitar Association. Although he did not attend many meetings and many may not have known Jim I did have the pleasure of getting to talk to him at a couple of events.
Our condolences to Jim's family. May he rest in peace. |

Hello again everyone. I know this is a different kind of request but James Mudge's family would love to find a steel guitarist willing to play a song at Jame's funeral service. It is in Nashua NH next Thursday If anyone knows someone willing please contact Jill Mudge at 603-888-0137 or jhmudge@comcast.net. I know the family would greatly appreciate it forever. This was very sad news. I only met Jim two times, but felt like I knew him better than those two meetings from several email/Facebook exchanges. I will see whether I can help out with getting some steel at his service.

Thank you so very much Dan. It would mean so very much to Jim's family if it could be arranged somehow. I only wish I was able to attend. From the bottom of my heart I would like to thank Dan Beller-McKenna as Jill Mudge, Jim's wife, has just informed me that he will be playing some steel guitar for Jim's service. What a beautiful and unselfish thing to do! The steel guitar forum is like heaven on earth! I am so proud to be a part of it! I hope Dan and I can meet one day so I can thank him in person and hear him play for myself _________________ Stage One PSG, Old Deluxe Reverb,Peavey Session 500,Nashville Telecaster, Alvarez Yari DY62 Cedar Top acoustic, Alvarez AJ-60-12 acoustic 12 string, Larivee OM-3 Acoustic, Harmony MOTS lap steel, Magnatone MOTS lap steel, Gibson BR-9 lap steel, Andy Hintons coated picks, Ernie Cawby's amp stand, Sharp Covers Nashville Amp and Guitar covers |

Robert,
I was just glad I could do something for Jim's family and to remember his love of the steel guitar. Bill Holbrook was able to play at the funeral service itself on Thursday, this despite an emergent situation in his own family. It's been a tough week for the steel community up in New England, but it is a very supportive and welcoming society, cutting across all sorts of backgrounds, politics, and such.
