Does anyone make aluminum steel legs to possibly lighten things up a bit?

Jay, my Williams has aluminum legs and I have also seen other guitars with aluminum legs and it really takes a lot of weight off. I'm sure someone will know of a vender that has them.

Jay, Don Fritche at BMI has some much lighter legs and cosmetically, they're not any different than those on my Emmons PP. I have them on my BMI Flight Ready guitar and they're much lighter, maybe half the weight or less. You might check with Don Fritche or Dan Burnham to see how they did it. Idea I would try the lightweight BMI legs on my Emmons to see if they fit but it's at home in Florida & the BMI is at my farm in Ky.

Jay,

Here is a link to what I think you're after.

http://www.nashvillerecordings.com/guitar/steel_guitar_parts_catalogB2.htm

I have personally used these legs on a couple of my guitars and recommend them highly. They make a huge difference in weight and seem to hold up just fine. I bought my first set at the ISGC several years ago and I've seen him at the Dallas Jamboree for the last few years too.

I bought a set of the Sun-coast lightweight legs while I was at the Dallas show in 2008. They are light, stable and easy to adjust. After 4 years, they're still working perfectly.

Lynn, thanks for the link!
So, I guess it's their "Airline" legs that I'm looking for, right?
Are they similar in appearance to the old Emmons legs or are they more if a matte finish?

Jay,

He uses chrome plated aluminum tubing, so they look just like what you're used to seeing on just about any Emmons steel, as well as many others. I don't think you'll be unhappy with them at all.

Do you guys know if my original grips from my Shobud, would work on these new legs from that site? I want to maintain the vintage look. I think ,maybe, the dif. would be 27tpi as opposed to
24. RP

I believe Don Burrows, of BSG Steel Guitars, can make you some aluminum legs if you want them.

Anybody know about how much lighter the alum legs are? And...are both the inner and outer tube aluminum?
