I'm working down here in Wilmington again, and I thought this time instead of staring at a tv in a hotel, i might check out the local scene. Is there any real country music here preferably with some good ole steel guitar and some fiddle.

I doubt it - although years ago the Carolina Beach boardwalk always had live bands during tourist season - they've probably torn all that down for bingo and t-shirt shops now - but you could check. DJs have pretty much ruined all that.
There is good country up the coast around the marine base in Jacksonville - try the Super Grit Cowboy band website. They are playing the TarHeel Opry apt 19/20

I didn't think there was much around here. wilmington is pretty much just another college town with everything geared toward the young teenie bopper crowd. And they sure don't listen to country music.

BTW..does Clyde Mattocks still play with Super Grit. or does stick with the Further Ado band in Selma.

He's a hell of a player. I got his album. Maybe he'll chime in this post.

Hi Ben. Kim Altman tells me she is playing traditional country at some place on the Carolina Beach boardwalk. Don't know what nights. She is singing and switching off on steel.
As to your other question, I am playing with Super Grit and Without Further Ado. I am playing three shows with Leona Williams this week. Thursday in Goldsboro, Friday in Chocowinity and Saturday in Dunn. Super Grit is at Tar Heel Opry House in Jacksonville Apr. 20 & 21.

I think I read that Wilmington, North Carolina is where Shot Jackson was born.

In case Clyde misses this,Yes he does still play with Super Grit.He always plays great and never fails to include several of those great originals that made this band so popular then and still today.
