With little more than a soldering tutorial from a tech savvy friend I ordered parts from Mouser and did the Sarno geek page mods to my Session 400, also replacing the six transistors. It was really not difficult, although you have to be careful to orient the polarized caps correctly (or bang!, I'm told).

It's now dead quiet and sounds like a million bucks. Kudos and many thanks to Brad Sarno, Ken Fox, et al.
Is there a similar guide to similarly optimizing a buzzy old Session 400 Limited (not an LTD)? It looks quite different inside. |

I just finished a second older Session 400. It sounds as good as the first one I did. Dead quiet, and incredibly clean high end.
I'm still hoping there's a guide or kit available for similarly modding a Session 400 Limited. |

Peter...John Lemay offered a mod kit for the 'Limited' at one time. I installed one in my old unit but to my ear, the tone was not significantly improved and I sold it shortly thereafter. |

I have had a John LeMay kit in my "Limited" for quite a few years,it did change it but I really never used it much because of the weight, still have it tho... |

There are no IC chips in an LTD400, only in the much later and often confused with Session 400 LTD amp. |

Ok Ken thank ya. My LTD 400 sounds good like it is anyways. I just thought if there was a chip mod, that would improve my tone, like the chip mod did for my Nashville 112, I'd give it a whirl.
