It certainly would be...I've used 'em.
I have heard that Fender's quality control can be a little dicey...but the 2 that I've played thru were killers.
Are they still making this one? |

| I'm inclined to say get an old one, have it gone through, and put a 15" JBL in it. But...Cindy Cashdollar used two of these to record on Ryan Adams' Cold Roses album. Incredible tone!!! |

I agree with Brett, but I think Cindy could play anything with great tone  A lot has to do with tweaking, but one needs good basics to start with - are the controls easy to replace or a nightmare like some of the "reissues"? RI amps don't mean RI totally, if you know what I mean. I'd much rather replace components on my amps that are mounted point to point vs. mounted on a board. How good are the transformers, etc., etc.? A good tech can advise you. Plus you can find vintage amps in that price range and you can resell them for the price you paid!! There's a reason vintage amps keep their value - we folks who own vintage amps aren't totally off the wall.. Just my two cents.

Interesting about the perception it's overpriced.I got my handy-dandy Inflation Calculator out and came up with the following...
Current list(which nobody pays) on the Custom 15 is $1990 US-the equivalent of $291 in 1965.
1965 list price(which a lot of folks DID pay) for the BF Twin Reverb was IIRC $469,equivalent to $3206 in today's money.
OK,Fender cuts corners they didn't cut back in the day,but the Custom 15 still looks to me like a better bargain than its ancestor,and I'm thinking about pulling the trigger.Anybody know if building this amp has been outsourced to Mexico? |

I don't think the issue is outsourcing as much as quality of design; mediocre design built here is just as mediocre built anywhere else. It's your money..I picked up a 70's Vibrosonic with 15 JBL for less than $900 - they are out there - it takes time that's all. Don't all good things take time? Talk to Wally about the Twin.. even with shipping you're probably ahead of the game.

Great amp. I used one for many years that had the mod installed. Incredible sound but had to give it up because of the weight being too much for an old picker like myself.
