This tuner is designed specifically for ukelele and lap steel. I bought one for my granddaughter's uke, and liked it so much that I've added it to the forum catalog. See www.steelguitarshopper.com/korg-ha-40/ to purchase.

So what makes it different than using a regular tuner?

Easier for novices, Richard. You set it to one of 5 lap steel tunings, and the meter shows when those notes (and no others) are in tune.

It's not designed for experienced players like you and me. It's designed for amateur musicians who play ukelele and 6 string lap steel.

That's cool. I would get one to go with my two other Korg tuners, but unfortunately (or fortunately) I just got an iPhone and the ClearTune app for it. All my other tuners just went into mothballs. As the kids would say, "Clear Tune is da bomb"! Better than either of my Korgs and the meter damping feature is really useful. And, one less piece of gear to pack in my suitcase when I'm traveling.
