OK we are are track for May 20th.. Beaverton Elks 1-5 on a Sunday, see Lynn Staffords post below for directions etc.

LIVE BAND WITH DEBBIE, KENNEY AND TIM and others, if they become to weak to play.

If you have ever been to one you know the drill, come early, be ready we start on time, providing the creeks don't rise and all of that.

We usually seat 25-32 steelers with another 4-9 who did not bring their gear. I can name 60 steelers from the Canada boarder to the Calif boarder and I still come up with new names all of the time. If we include the Spokane bunch the number goes up to maybe 75, but it is a long way to travel I know.

I will post a proposed set list with keys before the jam and work up a sheet for each player so they can follow the chord progression etc.

If you have song suggestions I am open but I am shooting for down the middle of the group with skill level and experience. Tie A Yellow Ribbon is OUT!!!

If you have ???? or input call me.

Here is a link to the prelimary page of our band's web site, with directions to the Beaverton Elks Lodge. It's in a very convenient location, just off SW Canyon Road, right near Hwy 217, which intersects both I-5 and HWY 26.

This lodge has an ample sized stage and very large dance floor, which should nicely accommodate us. Also, the load-in is very easy, with no stairs Very Happy

After a song list is established, we will have it avavible to view or download.

Sorry I won't be able to make this one as I'll be playing 1 1/2 hours north of Seattle (5 1/2 hours north of Portland) on that date. I sure have a had a blast when I've been able to get there. Some fine players and right nice folks.

I've an event on the eastside waterfront that morning and will be over just as soon as the gear is back in the truck, so save a corner for me Smile

On second thought, since I'm going to be a late arrival maybe I'll just show up sans gear altogether and turn squatter on Tony's corner; I'm sure he'll bring both his purty new lacquer Emmons and that nice Red ShoBud he's trying to sell, and he can't play them both at the same time....

Larry,

The list looks good. Everything is fairly standard, so the tunes should be familiar to newbies and veterans alike.

Highway 40 and Crying My Heart Out are a little bit more of a challenge (for the uninitiated), but w/ "Nashville Number" charts, anyone should be able to take a ride on them. We just need to resist the temptation to play Highway 40 at break-neck speed or it will quickly become exclusionary....That said, it's a great tune and will be fun to play.

I was hoping for the keys to the city, or perhaps the keys to somebody's heart, but would settle for the intended intonation of the anticipated anthems.

(I seem to have gone all Hankey on myself.)

Brian, fill your van with the Ben's and John's and Dan's and Stu's and Tab's and come on down. The coffee is on and the weather is turning warmer again.

This time I want to pick on your Frankln as I have not done so in the past.

May have some Bob's with me, Larry.

Please do sit and pick my Franklin. I'm hoping to find one of you guys in the push-pull captital of the NW who's got an Emmons set up high an inch or two that I can get under and try!

I hope no peddlers are allowed. I've been to a couple of these as an observer but I think I'll play this time around (I've got a new Clinesmith D10 plank style guitar). Looking forward to it!
