Hey Y'all,

I've got 2 tours coming up in Europe this year and I'm looking for something that weighs 50lbs or less in a case I can fly with. My Show Pro weighs 77lbs in its case and I just can't afford the overseas flight costs. I've seen a few keyless Willams S-10 or 3/4 bodies move thru in the past year and would be interested in something like that if I could find it used. 50lbs or less is a must!
(no, I am NOT interested in trading my Show Pro Smile)

Thanks,

Luke

Hi Luke, I'm not sure that keyless means lighter. I love keyless guitars, but if you're looking for a lighter weight, you should probably research the brands that are built to be light. I have a D10 Carter that plays and sounds great. It weighs close to 60 pounds in the case. I'm planning on getting a lighter case because the guitar only weighs 37 pounds by itself. There's a really sweet looking Carter S10 for sale at Elderly Instruments. Check it out!

Thanks Mark,

You make a good a point. Although shorter, keyless doesn't necessarily mean lighter. Might I ask what kind of case you're looking into? I just spent $250 on roundtrip excessive baggage fees flying to Aspen and back last week alone. And that was after I took the leg pouch out of the case to get it to weigh under 70lbs. The legs squeezed into my electric guitar soft case that I carried on. Had I not done this, United would have charged $225 each way! In the United States I've found that Southwest is a little better with their policies, but in Europe (especially on the smaller flights) all bets are off... Thanks again Mark!

Luke

I'm personally looking at an aluminum case that seems like it will work (not made for pedal steel) but check out this link. Deals with your dilemma.
