Gary Carter plays “Live Steel Strings”
Gary has always been one of my PSG hero’s.
I have known Gary for 38 years.
As many of you know Gary Carter can be seen each week on the Marty Stuart Show and is the regular Steeler for Connie Smith on the RFD channel.
What many people do not know is;
Gary Carter is one of the most innovative Steel Guitar Players of today.
Not only does Gary play those beautiful heartfelt soulful intros, turnarounds and solos within the Country Music genre, Gary Carter is also of very progressive player.
Gary has the musical knowledge, intellect and taste to carry the Pedal Steel guitar into future music.
I personally know and have known almost every legendary pedal steeler since the 60s and have spoken with some of them regarding the steel guitar and its place in future music.
Is it going to be a more advanced tuning, approach, what? Someone will have to figure it out.
Don’t misunderstand thoughts. I love the traditional Country Music as much or more that anybody.
There is one undisputable fact; the music is going to change and the steel guitar will have to adapt.
Check out Gary Carter playing some of his more progressive music using our new product “Live Steel Strings”

Really, really great playing!! Besides a very creative and musical delivery, his technique is flawless. Anyone with questions regarding technique would do themselves a favor by carefully studying this video. |

That is a great video and Gary is an amazing player. I always enjoy watching him on the Marty Stuart Show. I wish they would use him on more of the songs. |

Gary, I hope that you're reading this; if you make an instrumental CD, I want a copy. Thank you. I don't want much at this point in my life but I would want this. |

That's a breath of fresh air!!!! I love the tune and Gary's approach.
He reminds me a little of another of my all-time favourite players, Mike Smith. Here's E9th at its exciting best!
(Oh, and what a relief to see someone else happily playing with his pinkie extended - I'd had it suggested that I try and train mine to curl under but it was proving tricky. That project's now being abandoned!)
Ditto to Charles' request - I'd buy a CD of this sort of musical thinking and technical excellence in a heartbeat! _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, B-bender Teles, Martins, and a Gibson Super 400!

Absolutely incredible playing! Is that a standard zum or is that the new hybrid? I'm sure the tone is all in his hands (as mentioned above, technique is flawless) but I really enjoy the tone! _________________ Lamar S-10, Goodrich L10K VP, Carvin Vintage 16 all-tube amp, John Pearse Cryogenic steel tone bar, John Pearse strings. |

I certainly appreciate Sid posting the link where it got my attention - otherwise I might have remained ignorant of this fine player - but I suspect he'd have sounded just as good on any guitar and, dare I say it, any brand of strings! _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, B-bender Teles, Martins, and a Gibson Super 400!
