The last I knew Carco Claves was in Nashville. He could be any where now.

Carco lives in Nashville and has for some time. He's a busy musician, on steel and also because he doubles on everything, and comes to the Texas Steel Jamboree pretty regularly. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.
Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? |

he also does guitar tech work at various music stoers around town. this apeatrntly to keep from getting bored between gigs.you might see him of a morning at sam ash, later at nshville consignment music and later at at least 2 gigs on lower broad
all in the same day.
but he sure can play when the time comes.

Carco Clave and Carlos Claveria are one and the same. His full name is Carlos Carco Claveria, and he went by Carco growing up. Clave is shorter than Claveria and easier for some to remember. He does not have a computer or go online. He has been touring some with Chuck Mead in the re-vamped BR549. |

Does he build his own lap steels? If not who builds them?

Just saw Carco last night at The Mint in L.A. with Chuck Mead. He was also in Phoenix in January with his great sounding custom lap steel, with a pickup he wound himself. Great player, particularly on C6 and non-pedal, and a pretty darn good guitar player as well. His CD with Doug Jernigan is quite good. |

Carlos (Carco) is one of my early mentors. Before I was 21 and could get into clubs, I use to listen to him on a Sunday live broadcast on the radio from a club other in San Pablo or El Cerrito. If I wanted to know something, I would write a letter to him in care of the club. He would write back with the answers. The first time I got to see him live was when he was working at Cowtown. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . I believe his lap steel was built for him, but I don't know by whom. He did say he wound the pickup himself. It is keyless because he wanted it as short as possible. |

I met Carco in Nashville in the Fall, he was playing at Robert's on Broadway and he blew my mind, I had to go up and talk steel with him. I still have his card in my wallet. A fine guy. _________________ Updates from the road on Twitter
