Dave Owens lost his battle last night. We're going to miss him greatly. For those of you in the area the family has decided to have a service in Branson on Friday at 1 oclock at the God and Country Theater. Dave worked there with Wade Benson Landry. His burial will be Saturday in Northern Missouri.

You'r right Boo he was a great friend to all of us that knew him. I got to thinking about how many great opportunities he gave me... Because of Dave I became friends with Leona and Ferlin and had a special day with them in my house. We did a lot of recording together and that was good... Playing a gig is one thing but creating music is the hoot and Dave taught me a lot about the "Nash sound". I went to Nashville with him and had a memorable night on Broadway. So many other things too numerous to mention....I got a lot of memories to last me til we hook up again.... Guess that's what it's all about enjoying your friends and making great memories....I know you and Lisa have some too and that's cool!!!!!!
See ya down the road....

Boo and Scotty - you both have said it well. Dave was our musical friend and our personal friend. He and Ron worked together traveling the road with Charlie Louvin and playing the Opry. Then they became band members in the Davidson County Sheriff's Posse Band.We also enjoyed getting together and just visiting or having dinner together somewhere. When he moved to Missouri we really missed him, but whenever he came back to Nashville we always tried to hookup and enjoy each other's company some more. He was definitely a pleasure to know and be friends with and will be missed by many. May he rest in peace - and we will see you later ole friend.

This news makes me very sad indeed.
Dave and his father was friends of my family for many many years. I remember Dave used to come out to the 95 Club and sit in and we all had a great time.

As long as I ever knew him he always was a fantastic entertainer and he will be missed.

I got to know Dave quite well when we were together on Wade's
show two years ago, playing, travelling, rooming together with him.
What a great talent and swell guy Dave was to work with.
Scotty, I know you were so close to Dave, I'm so sorry
you've lost such a dear friend.
May God keep Daves soul and
provide some peace for you, and
for Gay and all their family.

The family has asked for live music to be played so we get the opportunity to pick for Dave one last time.... Visitation starts at 1 and the service will be at 2. Brother Carl Butler will be officiating the service. Should be a good day of remembering our friend....

My condolences to Dave's family.
I got to work with Dave only once, at the Middle Creek Opry House when they had hosted the Heartland Steel guitar show one year.
Dave was a great singer and bass player as well, may God rest his soul.

I met Dave in the mid 90s and he was the best bass player and singer I have ever worked with in my 50 years in this business. Dave and I were band members for 3 years, the greatest musical experience of my whole life. First night I worked in the band I had brought a music stand to hold some words. After the first set, Dave walked over to me and with his deep, authoritive, resonant voice, said to me, "We don't read songs in this band". Working with Dave was an education. Now, that he is gone, the rest of us so-called singers can step up one notch.

What a major loss! Dave's vocals on the fantastic Jazzabillies material are some of the best vocals ever done. May he rest in peace!
