Topic: Pedal rod length |

Just purchased a Classic MSA. But since i have x-long legs I need to lengthing my pedal rods, The legs on the guitar i can
make long enough, but, i need some type of connectors that will give me 1 1/2 to 2"
longer than reg. rods. Does anyone have any suggestions. Without having to purchase new ones.

I'm tall, and I have a Sierra. I saw a rod-extender kit on the web for about $45.
No way!
I went to the hardware store (not a chain, one of the high-quality tool shop places) and got 2"-long hex nuts, 1-1/4" set screws, and nuts to lock it all together, all 10/32 size, the same size as my rods. Total cost about 6 bucks for eight sets. They work great.

I guess "high-quality tool shop" must be the key. I've looked in many hardware stores for the long nuts but could only find 10-24, no 10-32.  |

Jim,
Yeah, I tried two chain stores and they didn't have the 10/32 parts. Then I walked into the specialty tool shop with one of my pedal rods and told them I wanted it two inches longer. Five minutes later I was out the door with what I needed.

You should be able to find the coupling nuts that you are describing at a store that specializes in fasteners(bolts, screws,washers, etc.)

| You might try an electronics supply store--maybe even Radio Shack. You can find standoffs for circuit boards, some are threaded 10/32, male on one end, female on the other. Happy Huntin'! |

I got some at one of the Jeff Newman seminars in Sacramento a couple of years ago. I THINK I bought them from Jim Baron. Should be a link for him on the Pedal Steel Pages.
