I picked up an old used Fender M-80 from a friend at my college last week, i loved the clean sounds i was getting for my jazz guitar, but i was wondering if this one might be a good amp for steel. Anybody out there use one?

I tried one several years back as was not impressed.... However, the guitar player sounded pretty good with it. He was playing a Strat...

I only used one in one venue in the early 90's- they were the house amps at Harrah's Casino. I liked it fine with steel and banjo but never cranked it up because we were miked. I think it would be fine for small clubs or with a good house system. Amps that aren't voiced for steel are often OK if you very carefully adjust the tone controls.
