my last studio work before tinnitus effectively ended my steel playing....
its decent, I am not a great player, but have decent journeyman chops, honed through years on the road... Listen to Tracks 6 and 11 .. the rest is just doodling in my bedroom on a 1965 Fender cable steel...
The band is a local bar band that writes lots of originals, and these are rough unedited tracks... No effects on vocals... Lots of the steel will be deleted, and i wanted my friends to hear it while it was still there!.. i never get a chance to play this stuff, so when it was sent rough and unedited to me I was thrilled.
You an even hear the hole where the guitar solo has yet to be placed.. My "pad" there is my favorite thing I played actually.
I hope you enjoy my steel, even if you don't like the music! lol....

I REALLY enjoyed the opening tune and track 11....
Clean, simple examples of how a steel should be played, IMHO.
Thanx for sharing...........
Are CERTAIN.........your condition is permanent? |

Cool Bob. Your playing on track 6 is very rhythmic and drives the track. Good intonation and timing. |

Sounds great Bob! I hear the Sneaky influence too, and that's a good thing!!!
Please don't take this as any kind've judgement call on my part, but a friend of mine had some remarkable luck with his tinnitus using this kind of therapy. Couldn't hurt to check it out (if you haven't already).

Rick and Bill,,, God bless you guys for even mentioning Pete's name in regards to my playing style ,, I always thought of my style as a half assed bastardization of Cage and Garcia, but I listened to a LOT of Pete's work. I think its rubbed off just a tiny bit, but if guys can hear the Sneaky Pete influence in my hacking I feel honored.
I revered him..
The guitar is a Carter S-10 w/ 5+5 and a custom wound Truetone pickup w/ coil taps at 9K and 12 K... This session I used the 12 K position.. The 9 K winding has a brighter, more airy sound. One old timer heard me playing it while it was in the 9K position, and told me it sounded like his Fender 400, which is exactly what I was looking for..
Rick, I have thought about hypnotherapy.. I am about to see some mental heatlth professionals through a program my job offers, and I am considering it... Thanks for the link, and the concern ...
Ray... after 5 months and at this severity level, I would think it is permanent, but who knows. I bring it to the Lord daily, and I do believe in miracles. I'll just pray for some substantial relief. Thanks for the concern and the nice comments Ray! bob _________________ I'm over the hill and hittin'rocks on the way down!

I'm listening to track six right now, and am impressed by Bob's playing.
It's a good demonstration of a player playing with confidence, with a good string attack, no timidity there
Keep playing, Bob, your too good a player to pack it all in.
I also have tinnitus, perhaps not as severe as yours, but I do know that after time, the brain learns to ignore it. |

You play and sound great, there is nothing wrong with your playing.
Maybe we will meet sometime.I have a son who lives near Syracuse, maybe I can take 86 from Jamestown, and take 80 north.
Last summer my band played the CB jamboree at Addison, maybe will play there again this summer.
And by all means KEEP PLAYING, I,m 72 and still at it. Joe
