New as in 1969 ! Vox Series 90, close to mint, I am the 2nd owner...This amp was made from 69 to 71, very few around I am told, this is the only one I have ever seen, it replaced the Super Beatle. 140 watts, 4x12 Bulldogs, 2 Horns..heavier than a Twin Reverb... Laughing

100% functional and original, even the Red Dots are still on the Chrome Knobs. I was told this amp was sold new in Columbia SC, ( 90 miles south of me ) and that's where I got it, it was supposedly in some guys back bedroom for the past 30 or 40 years and it certainly looks like it, no mildew, wear, corrosion , minimal dirt, very few and very mild tolex scars. Don't ask how I got it up to my music room...Very loud..very clean..very loud..oh I said that already...

It's an interesting story, around 69, Marshall and others were going full bore with 100 watt tube amps, thanks to Clapton and Hendrix. Vox went full bore solid state in very weird configurations as is the case with the Series 90, the P/S and Power amp are in the speaker box. The head is only a preamp. Vox totally missed the market, by the end of 71 they were liquidating everything. I am not surprised that these Series 90's are scarce, they are near impossible to haul. Marshall built the Stacks in 3 pieces , so they could at least be hauled. This amp, they added another 50 pounds of stuff to the already heavy Beatle Speaker box...what a concept !

I spotted this amp about 6 months ago and have been eying it ever since, it was only functioning at about 25% volume, I took care of that when I got it home with a very minor fix. It stands 56" high , floor to the top of the head ! I Love it !
Smile Cool

Say hello to the Series 90.. will it be a Steel amp.? I doubt it...it would probably kill me sitting in front of it !

Tony,
That is way cool! A good friend plays in a Beatles Tribute band here in SoCal. He'd go nuts over your Vox. That baby is clean! Nice find.

I keep his AC30 & AC15 running. It's all about the look in Trib bands.

I keep telling him they should play SF Fender like used in the rooftop concert!

I was watching a Monkee's special last night on the tube, I had never noticed this but when they did their concerts they entered the stage by coming out of a large VOX amp prop thru a speaker cabinet door ! That was a kool idea !
