I've posted a number of clips by the amazing Jean-Guy Grenier but here is something from another well known Quebec steel player by the name of Sylvain Pouliot. Great job Sylvain!

Hello Dave, yes, Sylvain plays very well. He is the house steeler on a weekly country music t.v. show produced here in Quebec. He played at a big show in my town a couple of summers ago but I didn't get a chance to speak with him. I know he's backed up some of the best known performers in this province. Because of their regular t.v. exposure he and Jean-Guy Grenier are very recognizable musicians here.

BTW...if anyone is wondering what he says at the beginning, basically he says " here's a steel tune called 'Steel Minor' by Tommy White that people should like, especially steel players."

Bill, Sure looks like you guys have some real jewels hidden away there in Quebec. First Jean Guy and now Sylvain - wow!! World class picking from both of these guys.

Bent, these are the two high profile steelers I'm aware of but quite likely there are others. I'm way out east in the boonies so I don't get to rub elbows with these boys.
Like Jean-Guy, Sylvain isn't limited to pedal steel, he's a capable keyboard player and he may play other instruments as well.
In the original version by Tommy White there's a keyboard solo. I'm impressed with what Sylvain came up with on steel for that part.

Bill, thanks for info on Sylvain and Jean-Guy. I have played Jean-Guy a lot the last couple years. He is a great entertainer in addition to everything else. We need more of his type in the steel world.

I hope our paths will cross, either here or where you are.
