Now that I received my empty cabinet that will be used for an extension speaker I need to find the right speaker that will compliment my Roland Cube 80XL.
I'm looking for an 8 ohm speaker 100 watt (minimum). I know there has been plenty of discussion on the subject but thought now that I'm ready to buy a fresh discussion would be helpful.
Also I'll be posting in the "Want to Buy" Section.

I'll suggest a couple of my favorites, there are lots of good choices.. I run EVM12F, JBL K-120, and/or Black Widow. All are excellent.

I got a new Crate ext speaker cab with an 8ohm 12 inch Celestion speaker and it works great with my Cube 80ex. Not too heavy, either. Jack

| JBL K120 will give you the clearest tone and also the most volume per watt. |

What model Celestion, Jack? I favor the Classic Lead 80's; I've got a pair of 12"s as replacement that went into my Crate cabinet.
They do not sound like JBL's or BW's, but I really like them. |

Bobby, the cabinet is closed in with about 8 screws or so and I tried to find out from Crate what model Celestion it is but did not have any luck. All I know at the moment is, it is an 8 ohm 80 watt max and sounds good to me. If I get any more info I will post it. Jack

My favorite combinations are in my current rig, running a '72 Fender Vibrosonic Reverb with an EVM 15L and a 1968 Dual Showman Reverb with a 2x12 setup (EVM 12F and Celestion Modern Lead 80) in stereo. Analog delay on one channel and a DD-5 ping-pong delay across both. So thick and full you can swim in the sound. Not real portable, but man it is great sounding rig. Now if I were a better player...

Currently looking at a Sica 12......I know they're good speakers, great reviews.
I hope the Roland speaker will match with which ever speaker I decide on. The weight will not be a problem with the Sica.
Are there any good Fender used speakers that will meet my needs? I once had a Fender 212R with a pair of good sounding speakers.
Still opened to ideas, haven't pulled the trigger yet  . |

I'm running a similar speaker in my silverface Deluxe Reverb, a Jensen Neo 12". It's fine for small venues, sounds great in the home or studio. Gets a little anemic at higher volumes outdoors. I used to run a pair of them in my '74 Pro Reverb, but after a thin sounding, plinky tone outdoors at a show, they had to go. I think I have a Sica 12" in the basement, don't remember for sure.. We were going to swap it into a customer's cabinet, but then he heard my EV and went with that instead.. The Sica and Neo speakers were surprisingly good for the money, and very lightweight.
