Hey,
I just bought a '73 pro reverb and it came with these speakers. I'm not really concerned with the sound of them as I'm going to pop this guy in a head cabinet with a 2x12 JBL speaker cabinet. Yes. Pure Garcia bliss.
Anyway, wondering what these are.....never seen them before in a SF fender amp.

Hey Ben Howzit? I had a '66 Fender Pro Reverb and the speakers in it weren't anything like this, the magnets were round and looked similar to the Fender Special Design spkrs. These look aftermarket for sure!
Man I sure wish I had my old Pro Reverb, probably the best amp I ever had! _________________ Dana Blodgett

Thanks Dana. By the looks of it, it looks like you have enough toys to keep you busy though |

Most likely early Eminence or CTS products, not likely original to the amp. |

Dave is correct.
Although Fender used a variety of speakers in its amps it did not use speakers with square magnets in or around 1973. The ones pictured are replacements.
To each their own but I don't get pulling the chassis and putting it in a separate head cabinet and then using a 2-12 cabinet. That is, unless one were doing it for strictly weight considerations. Whatever, don't get rid of the original cabinet. |
